Stallions News · South Pointe Baseball wins 1st Upper State title in school history

South Pointe baseball hosted and won their first Upper State Championship in the school’s history Wednesday night vs North Augusta by a score of 8-7. This was another first for the Stallions this year including Region 3-AAAA Championship and District 4 Championship. The Stallions scratched across 4 runs through first 3 innings of the game thanks in large part to Spencer Bala who went 4-4 with 3 RBI on the night and was a HR shy of the cycle. Trey Prince held NAHS in check through first 4 innings on the mound, but their very talented offense got to the Stallions for 6 runs in the fifth inning. The battle-tested Stallions did not panic after multiple come from behind wins this season and in the playoffs. After allowing 1 more run in the top of the 6th the Stallions started chipping away at the Yellow Jackets lead and cut it to 7-6 heading into the final inning. Bala again started the rally with 2 outs with a hard hit ball that got by their 3rd basemen. Jake Kurn was hit by pitch and Dez Good hit the ball just hard enough to get by shortstop to tie up the game. Austin Breeden came to the plate and watched a wild pitch get by the catcher for Kurn to score the winning run! DJ Hartline came on in relief to pick up the win on the mound! Great team win with plenty of players making game changing plays throughout! South Pointe baseball will take on AC Flora for a shot at their first ever State Championship title!
